Purpose: to provide emergency assistance to the regional population in the:
* medical;
* firefighting;
* and rescue fields.
General information
Revava is located in the central part of Shomron in the heart of a group of settlements: Barkan, Kiryat Netafim, Yakir, Nofim, Barkan Industrial Park (one of the largest parks in Israel) and near the town of Ariel (40 minutes from Tel-Aviv).
The first stage of the Emergency Center is already functioning in Revava, serving the residents of the area (Jews and Arabs) in providing emergency medical, firefighting and rescue operations.
The Center was established some five years ago. A location was selected and engineering and architectural plans were drawn up. The ground was leveled and initial funding was obtained to begin construction. An open shelter for emergency vehicles was built in the first stage, and the area paved as shown in the illustration above.
Contributions were obtained for purchasing a bullet-proof ambulance, some medical and rescue equipment while the regional council financed a firefighting trailer, all located in the open shelter.
Activity of the center
Today service is provided from this area for medical BLS (Basic Life Support), rescue and firefighting operations.
Revava has ten trained ambulance drivers who are medics, working as 2-man teams. They are on call 24 hours a day on a volunteer basis from the Yarkon Magen David Adom (MDA) center in Petah-Tikva. On the average, they get about 12 calls a month.
These teams provide a rapid response to the neighboring communities, including the Barkan Industrial Park (5,000 employees), for traffic accidents, accidents at work, terrorist attacks, child wounds, pregnant women, the elderly, etc. and serve as a "back-up" to the ambulance and mobile intensive care unit in the city of Ariel (population of 30,000).
After the Revava team has performed initial examination, resuscitation, etc., and if deemed necessary by the medics, they call and meet up with a mobile intensive care unit that continues the treatment and transfer to a hospital.
Presently, we are waiting to begin the second stage, namely construction of the building:
Building functions (now performed from several makeshift locations)
- MDA control unit (attached to the main building)
- Revava emergency team (צח"י) command and control room - treatment and handling of civilian tragedies
- Office of Revava security coordinator
- Command and control office (in combination with the local military authorities) during military operations
- Briefing room
- Equipment storage room, etc.
